The Requirements

To be a good fit for the Accounts Payable Specialist opportunity, you will have:
  • An associate’s degree (A.A.) in Accounting or Finance and five years of A/P experience or equivalent.
  • Strong understanding of accounting theory.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and 10-key, and hands-on experience with spreadsheets and proprietary software.
  • Strong analytical and investigation skills with a demonstrated ability to resolve invoice discrepancies in a timely manner with accuracy and eagerness.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a customer service focus.
  • A strong detail orientation with the ability to plan, organize and accurately process numerical data.
  • A problem-solving attitude and the ability to meet assigned deadlines.
  • Enthusiasm for working in an organization where flexibility, teamwork, and commitment are necessities.
  • Experience in the construction industry is preferred.
  • Experience with paperless processes is a plus.

The Role

You will leverage your familiarity with all accounting procedures to manage daily financial transactions end-to-end, ensuring accuracy and efficiency throughout our entire accounts payable process. Reporting to the A/P Supervisor, you will process more complex invoices and assist in check runs.  Responsibilities include managing invoices and handling missed payments. More specifically, you will:
  • Ensure timely payments of vendor invoices.
  • Process check requests and print check runs.
  • Code and process AP invoices according to established terms.
  • Handle Credit Card Reconciliation
  • Maintain accurate records and control reports.
  • Maintain schedules of monthly recurring expenses.
  • Set up vendor master files, and maintain and update vendor records information.
  • Review, code, audit and process checks for employee reimbursements.
  • Maintain communications with sub-contractors regarding required insurance, union reporting, certified payroll and lien waiver compliance.
  • Provide support to the accounts payable team.
  • Assist with audits related to AP.
  • Assist management in other duties as assigned.
  • Exhibit excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a customer service focus.
